Before Justin Brandis and Andy Rantzen began to call themselves Pelican Daughters in 1985, they were Knapp, a surrealist sound project making cassettes in 5-10 print runs for a Sydney import store on their self-imagined cassette label Masking Tapes.

These tracks were made in 1984 using a cassette four track, a home organ, a microphone and an early digital delay pedal.
